Hair soap: interesting facts, tips & tricks
In this article, I would like to introduce you to 3 advantages of hair soaps, as hair soaps are becoming increasingly popular.
They are a natural and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional shampoos.
Advantage № 1 – Naturalness:
Hair soaps consist of purely natural ingredients such as vegetable oils and/or animal fats, essential oils and herbal extracts.
The more natural the ingredients are, the better for our hair and scalp.
My hair soaps contain no preservatives or surfactants that can be found in conventional shampoos and conventional hair soaps / shampoo bars (solid shampoo).
There are also no synthetic silicones in my hair soaps, as they are enriched with the “natural silicone” broccoli seed oil.
This allows you to pamper your hair with suppleness and shine.
Advantage № 2 – Gentle and gentle:
The gentle formula of hair soaps cleanses the hair thoroughly without irritating the scalp.
Give your hair time to adjust.
The main reason for this is that you have probably been washing your hair with conventional shampoos, which contain lots of additives to make your hair easy to comb and smooth.
Switching to hair soaps detoxifies your hair for the first time.
This may also be the reason why you are not quite so happy with the washing results.
Don’t give up, because the switch is worth it. Here’s a little tip: Your scalp has a slightly acidic environment – just like our skin in general – because the pH value of our scalp is between 4.5 and 5.5.
To give your scalp this feel-good oasis, I recommend rinsing with an acidic rinse after washing your hair (whether with hair soap or shampoo).
Do not rinse your hair afterwards.
Preparation:50ml apple cider vinegar to 1l water
No, you won’t smell like a pickle afterwards 🤣🤣🤣🤣 As soon as your hair is dry, the vinegar scent will fade.
You can also use a rinse with rosemary tea make.
Rosemary strengthens the hair and counteracts dry, itchy and flaky scalps.
Preparation: 10g rosemary cut to 1l water (possibly from your own garden) Leave to infuse for 10 minutes Leave to cool for 20 minutes (it’s best to prepare in good time so you don’t have to stress if you need to make it quickly)
For light or blonde hair, we also recommend a Chamomile tea rinse.
Kamille ist ein natürlicher “Weichmacher” und wirkt gegen krauses Haar und Spliss.
Außerdem wird der Kamille eine aufhellende Wirkung für das Haar nachgesagt.
Preparation: 10g camomile blossoms to 1 liter of water Leave to infuse for 10 minutes Leave to cool for 20 minutes (it’s best to prepare this in good time so you don’t have to stress if you need it quickly)
One Green tea rinse strengthens the hair and adds body to thin hair.
Preparation: 10g green tea to 1 liter of water Leave to infuse for 10 minutes Leave to cool for 20 minutes (it’s best to prepare it in good time so you don’t have to stress if you need it quickly)
Many people report an improvement in problems such as dandruff or itchy scalp after switching to hair soaps.
You too can take advantage of hair soaps to keep your hair happy.
Advantage № 3 – Sustainability:
In times like these, sustainability must of course also be emphasized as an advantage of hair soaps / soaps.
In contrast to the plastic bottles in which conventional shampoos are packaged, hair soaps are usually offered without packaging or in environmentally friendly packaging.
The positive effect of this is that plastic waste is reduced and the ecological footprint is minimized.
Soaps also contain no microplastics.
This is also the reason why I don’t add sea salt to my hair soap and instead use Vacation-for-your-hair Himalayan salt in my hair soap.
Natural soaps are also better for waste water because they are biodegradable.
In contrast, many conventional shampoos and liquid soaps contain synthetic chemicals that are difficult to break down and pollute wastewater.
You will also notice that you no longer have to wash your hair as often.
This also reduces your water consumption.
Using hair soaps correctly
Especially when you switch to hair soaps, you also have to make some changes to the application.
Here is a small 6-step program 😉:
- Moisten the hair thoroughly with warm water.
- Rub the hair soap directly into wet hair.
Foam is created. - Now gently massage your hair and scalp.
Make sure that the foam is well distributed. - Rinse the hair thoroughly until all soap residue has been removed.
- Now use the “acid rinse” or one of the aforementioned rinses.
- Dry the hair as usual.
