Our “Savon-du-Soleil” is more than just a simple soap – it is inspired by the famous “Savon-de-Marsaille” and has its own unique character. Produced using a gentle cold process, the valuable nourishing ingredients such as olive and coconut oil are retained.
King Louis XIV of France was already aware of the importance of high-quality soap. For this reason, he stipulated in the edict of October 5, 1688 that “Savon-de-Marsaille” should only be made from pure vegetable oils. Article III of the Edict requires soap to be boiled in large cauldrons. As a result, the quality of the soaps was very high under King Louis XIV.
Our “Savon-du-Soleil” is vegan and contains the ingredients used by King Louis XIV. recommended 72% olive oil. However, it is not boiled, but produced using a gentle cold process so that the oils do not lose their nourishing properties. When making the “Savon-du-Soleil”, I made sure that 20% of the oils were not saponified. This has the advantage that your skin does not dry out during washing and feels soft and smooth afterwards.
