“Vegan or non-vegan, that is the question here”
Often they are small and seemingly unimportant decisions and sometimes bigger ones that affect the rest of our lives.
One decision I have had to make in the past concerns my product development and manufacturing:
“Vegan or non-vegan, that is the question here”
As the founder of SeifenLust®, it is very important to me in the development of my products that they are as effective and skin-friendly as possible.
For this reason, today I would just like to mention 2 reasons why I have decided on a range that also includes non-vegan products.
Harnessing the power of nature
1. similarity to human lipids: Animal fats have a composition that is very similar to the lipids in our skin.
This can help them to be better absorbed by the skin and thus strengthen the skin’s natural barrier function. 2. circular economy and sustainability: For me, sustainability is more than just a buzzword that is becoming increasingly important in today’s world.
For me, sustainability also means using all parts of an animal, which ultimately leads to a more responsible use of our resources.
I attach great importance to high organic quality and ethical responsibility in dealing with animals.
I am convinced that they are God’s creatures and it is our duty to treat them responsibly and lovingly.
Unique ingredients for unique products
3. three valuable ingredients from “Mother Nature”: At SeifenLust® I rely on the gifts of nature to create products that are as effective as they are skin-friendly:
- Beeswax: Beeswax is a natural treasure known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
It is an excellent ingredient in skincare as it forms a protective barrier that shields the skin from environmental aggressors while locking in moisture without clogging pores. - Lanolin: Extracted from sheep’s wool, lanolin binds moisture and is particularly valuable for dry and chapped skin.
- Pork fat (lard): When developing 3 of my soaps, I chose pork fat because it is rich in saturated fatty acids and therefore provides the creamy texture and stable lather that my consumers want.
Pork fat is similar to our human skin and helps to improve the moisture balance.
This helps to make the skin softer and more supple.
Pork fat is particularly good in hair soaps because it is rich in vitamins such as vitamin D and E as well as minerals that can help to nourish and strengthen the hair.
The saturated fats in pork fat are effective in conditioning and protecting because they help retain moisture and add shine and softness to hair, making it an ideal ingredient for hair care products.
